Comprehensive I/DD Waiver Direct Care Services: Person-Centered Supports and Professional Training

Direct Care

Direct Care

I/DD Waiver Direct Care Services include a variety of Person-Centered Supports such as Family Person-Centered Supports, Home-Based Person-Centered Supports, In-Home Respite services, Out-of-Home Respite Services, and Mileage services. These services are considered direct care services as our employees directly interact with our members. CCIL also contracts with outside agencies to provide Speech, Occupational, and Physical Therapy services which can be reimbursed through I/DD Waiver.

CCIL’s Developmental Disabilities Services Division provides free, person-centered training for our direct care employees. Employees will complete several program-mandated trainings, such as CPR/FA, HIPAA compliance, and Crisis Prevention training, as well as, member-specific training so that our employees can enter the member’s home and confidently and compassionately provide the care required by the member.

The types of Direct Care Services offered through CCIL DDSD include:

  • Family Person-Centered Supports – these supports may only be provided by a family member who lives in the same home as the I/DD Waiver recipient. These services are provided in the I/DD Waiver recipient’s home and/or community.
  • Home-Based Person-Centered Supports – these supports are provided by members of the recipient’s family or community that do not live in the home of the recipient. These services are provided in the I/DD Waiver recipient’s home and/or community.
  • In-Home Respite Services – these supports are provided by members of the recipient’s family or community that do not live in the home of the I/DD Waiver recipient. These services may be provider-provided in the I/DD Waiver recipient’s home and/or community. This service is designed to allow the primary caregiver to have planned time off from the caretaker role.
  • Out-of-Home Respite Services – these supports are provided by a provider that does not live in the home of the I/DD Waiver recipient. These services may be provided in the I/DD Waiver recipient’s home, community, or a licensed Specialized Family Care Provider home. This service is designed to allow the primary caregiver to have planned time off from the caretaker role.
  • Mileage Services – mileage services are offered through I/DD Waiver to allow trips to and from a member’s preferred activities. Direct Care workers are allowed to be reimbursed for travel when transporting a member to and from approved destinations.

When I first met with CCIL over 10 years ago they were very nice to me. I love CCIL because we're a team. They help me with my helper Jeannie so I can work at the hospital. They are like my family and I love them.
